Type 2 Diabetes

Good nutrition is a key component in managing diabetes.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot properly use and store food energy. This energy comes from a sugar called glucose that is found in foods like cereals, breads and other grain products, vegetables and fruits, and some dairy products. Type 2 Diabetics produce an inadequate amount or do not properly use insulin, a hormone that helps control the level of glucose in the blood. Diet can have a considerable impact on Type 2 Diabetics. Eat regular meals, choosing a well balanced diet with a wide variety of whole foods. Avoid foods that are high in fat, cholesterol, and sugars.
